A Tradition Built Over Generations
Van Abel’s began in 1848 as a rest stop for cattle drives heading to Green Bay, offering food, lodging, and a place to gather. Over generations, the Van Abel family has preserved that same spirit - growing through history while holding onto the traditions that define the supper club experience today.
From the development of family recipes to the introduction of our famous broasted chicken in 1965, each generation has left its mark. Today, more than 175 years later, Van Abel’s continues to be family-owned and operated, carrying forward the legacy of hospitality, tradition, and timeless Wisconsin dining.
